Can hybrids be organically certified?

Yes. A hybrid is a natural cross between two parent plants to give a genetically superior plant. The organic certification is awarded based on the production process to produce the seed regardless of whether plant is hybrid or open pollinated. Hybrids can benefit organic production systems in that they may have improved disease resistance and other beneficial qualities that make them better suited to a low input system.
